I am the I.T. Director, Information Security Officer and Audit Manager for an ecommerce / production company; graphic designer; musician; martial arts instructor; pilot and all around creative genius! I’m not content unless I’m up to my eyes in technology – forever searching out the next challenge – always working at the very edge of technology – pushing the limits daily – the learning curve is vertical, and I wouldn’t have it any other way – stress is my friend, my sanity, a constant that will keep me moving, thinking, learning, winning!

Doing my job is a passion – which isn’t a bad thing when you are being paid for it. The joy of having a hyperactive mind is being able to use it and be paid. Sometimes your sanity is called into question when you are deemed as right and left brained (how they work that one out I’ll never know). They say inherently that ‘we’ should be insane – well – what makes you think ‘we’ are not? And, who defines insane? Normal I am not, nor do I have any desire to be since normal is a definition of ‘average’ to me, and I am anything but average.

Since adding the title Information Security Officer to my job I have had the pleasure of enjoying my job even more. I am definitely not an expert, nor am I a scripter, coder etc – but I am intent on maintaining my company’s security posture to the best of my ability and I will succeed. Since I’m at Director level I’m not going to deep dive into code or other such things (much as I want to). I have to concentrate on the broader spectrum of preventative ‘stuff’ and all that other ‘stuff’. I’d love to deep dive but that’s just not where I am right now! That being said, I am learning as I go along and that’s definitely a bonus.

I’m just another guy with a passion for technology and information security trying to keep up with the ever changing  goings on out there in the world of information technology and information security I’ve never had so much fun – and it continues to impress, educate and enlighten me daily.
